Jim Skrabel shared a Box Alarm this morning in Troy, detailing the incident at Auto-Masters located at 724 Cottage Street in Shorewood, Illinois. The structure was a one-story auto shop measuring 25 by 40 feet, with a two-story house attached to the rear. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke, and they deployed three 2.5-inch lines along with one 1.75-inch line. The fire was quickly brought under control by the Troy Fire Department.
Jim captured several images of the scene. One photo shows Troy Tower 2259 positioned in front of the burning building. Another image highlights one of Troy’s new Pierce Arrow XT engines, featuring a fresh color scheme, visible in the distance. A third photo shows firefighters inspecting the charred remains of the body shop, where several cars were being worked on before the fire.
Another shot captures two burned-out vehicles inside the bays, while another shows firefighters directing a hand line through a window in the back of the shop. Smoke is visible escaping from the far work bay as the team continues their efforts. Finally, a last image depicts a hose line being used to cool down hot spots after the fire was extinguished. These photos provide a clear look at the intensity and quick response of the local fire department.
