Chicago Fire Department: Engine Companies over the years. Part 1

Another installment of Chicago Fire Department (CFD) apparatus photos: This post features more images from the CFD's history, focusing on engine companies over the years. A big thanks to Squad546 for sharing these great photos. I thought it would be interesting to showcase some of the Ford/E-One engines together, especially those that were once among the busiest in the country. Here are a few notable examples: - **Former Engine 5** – A 1982 Ford/E-One returning from a call in 1995. - **Former Engine 8** – A 1982 Ford/E-One heading out on a response in 1995. - **Former Engine 13** – A 1982 Ford/E-One that served the department for many years. - **Former Engine 61** – A 1982 Ford/E-One that was once one of the most active engine companies in the U.S. It has since been repurposed as an EMS Field Division office. - **Former Engine 78** – A 1976 Ford/Pierce that had a major refurbishment. - **Former Engine 113** – A 1982 Ford/E-One that saw years of service. - **Former Engine 127 (Midway Airport)** – A 1982 Ford/E-One with a unique deck gun that caught attention. - **Former E13** – A 1982 Ford/E-One used as a spare for Engine 42, captured in 1996. These photos offer a glimpse into the past and show how the CFD’s fleet evolved over time. Each vehicle tells a story, and it's fascinating to see how some of these units have been retired or repurposed.
