Plant water potential analyzer analyzes the diurnal variation of three bonsai water potentials

    There are many factors that determine the growth status of plants, and the nutrient content, biomass, and moisture of the plant body are also important references. The measurement and analysis of plant water status by plants water potential meter is a common method currently used. The strength of water potential mainly affects whether plants can absorb water through the soil, so as to provide certain growth needs for the plants. In addition, the soil contains a large number of nutrients needed for plant growth.

    The bonsai plants of the flower market include three kinds of bonsai plants: juniper cypress, northeast yew, and cypress. The test time of the plant water potential analyzer is selected every day from 8:00 to 20:00. Plant leaves, shallow soil and deep layers are taken every 2 hours. The soil was placed in a sample test cup and the water potential of each sample was measured with a plant water potential meter. Each sample was repeated 3 times and the water potential was measured in megapascals. At the time of measurement, plant leaf samples were cut into smaller pieces in advance and the sample cups were covered as much as possible to speed up the stabilization time.

    The water potential of Taxus cuspidata varied day by day, which was approximately the same as that measured by the plant water potential analyzer. As the pot soil was clay, the water potential of the deep soil was greater than that of the shallow soil due to the effects of photosynthesis and transpiration of the leaves. . The diurnal variation of the water potential of the juniper showed a distinct “V” shape, and the water potential of the soil was significantly greater than the water potential of the leaf; the water potential of the leaf gradually decreased at 8:00 to 14:00, and the water potential measured by the plant water potential meter at 18:00. It began to show a downward trend, returning to the level of 8:00 in the morning.

    In the end, the water potential of Sabina leaves was slightly increased except in the period from 14:00 to 16:00. The change in soil water potential was not obvious. Only the deep soil dropped more obviously at 8:00. After the determination of the diurnal variation of water potential of the above three plants can be compared and analyzed by the plant water potential analyzer, each plant will also reflect different water potential changes in different environments.
