Recently, Changan Automobile and Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on cooperation in the field of diesel vehicles for light commercial vehicles. The head of Changan Automobile and Cummins signed the agreement.
Changan Automobile Light Vehicle Division is one of the three core pillars of Changan Automobile. It is a brand new business division established in February 2011. Changan Automobile expects to enter the light vehicle market and become an industry leader in this market segment. The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement has enabled Changan Light Trucks' high-end powertrain to have a high-end brand, high-quality products, and outstanding service, and has established Changan's light vehicle business' superior position on the powertrain.
It is understood that Cummins Powers, as the world's leading large-scale diesel engine manufacturer, has obvious advantages in technology, quality and service. Since 1975, Cummins has invested in 15 joint ventures and wholly-owned enterprises in China, with an accumulated investment of more than 1 billion U.S. dollars. It is the largest foreign investor in the Chinese diesel engine industry.
Cummins' four joint venture engine manufacturers in China include Dongfeng Cummins, Chongqing Cummins, Xi'an Cummins, and Foton Cummins. The engine products produced cover 2.8 to 50 liters of different categories, and 12 regional service centers and over 300 are established. Authorized after-sales service network consisting of distributors and service providers. Cummins has sold more than 1.6 million engines in China. In 2010, Cummins sold more than US$3.1 billion in domestic sales. The China region has become Cummins’ largest and fastest-growing overseas market.
The cooperation between Chang'an Automobile and Cummins Power will surely enable the Changan Light Vehicle Business Unit to expand its product lineage and win more market opportunities under the guidance of the strategic thinking of the Chang'an headquarters building the Dachang'an system.
