TYM-HYD-BFR Rail Drive Operator, Box Frame Gate System Downloads

    The Fortress Box Frame Roller Gate, crafted by TYMETAL, marks a significant leap forward in the design, construction, and performance of large roller gates, thanks to its innovative wheel system. This design has successfully protected openings up to 500 feet wide. Under normal load conditions, the wheels glide smoothly along the flat surfaces of the top and side of a steel beam. When wind pressure starts to push the gate laterally, the wheel system's width and low center of gravity help keep the gate stable. However, if the wind load becomes strong enough to lift the wheels off the beam, the safety guides come into play, making contact with the underside of the top flange of the track and ensuring the gate remains securely anchored to the ground. These Box Frame Roller Gates are fabricated using 6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusions. The main structural members (top and bottom) have a "P" shape in cross-section. The vertical members alternate between 1” x 2” and 1” x 1”, with weights not less than 0.82 lb/lf and 0.52 lb/lf respectively. These members are spaced apart at intervals not exceeding the overall height of the box frame. The gate is constructed in a "box" configuration, with the width between the frames measuring exactly 24 inches from outside to outside. The roller wheel trolley assemblies are securely bolted onto the box frame at specified intervals. Each assembly comprises several welded steel parts that support the axle. The gate moves along two parallel tracks embedded in concrete, ensuring the top of the tracks are flush with the ground surface. This section includes all labor, materials, equipment, and appliances required to complete the TYMETAL Fortress Box Frame Roller Gate and Hydraulic Operator Systems for this project. These systems will be delivered and installed strictly according to the specifications and drawings provided. **1.02 References:** A. UL 325 Underwriters Laboratory Gate Operator Requirements. - Operators must comply with UL 325 standards and be tested by a certified laboratory. Electrical installations must adhere to local codes and the National Electrical Code. - Current safety standards mandate the use of multiple external sensors to reverse the gate automatically when an obstruction is detected. - Pedestrian access should never use vehicle gates; separate pedestrian gates must be provided when foot traffic is expected. - Hydraulic Operator Model TYM-HYD-VF2 complies with Usage Classes III and IV. **1.03 Submittals:** A. Product Data: - Provide manufacturer’s catalogs, specifications, and installation instructions. - Deliver two copies of operation and maintenance data, including contact details for the nearest service center. - Each operator must bear a label certifying full power and pressure tests of all hydraulic components, stress tests of mechanical components, and overload device electrical tests. B. Shop Drawings: - Include detailed drawings showing the relationship between operating systems and gate components. - Provide comprehensive details of gate construction, height, and post spacing. C. Certifications: - Aluminum welders and welding processes must meet AWS D1.2 standards. - Operator manufacturers must have at least ten years of experience. - Installers must have a minimum of three years of experience with similar equipment. --- **Part 2 – Products:** **2.01 Hydraulic Gate Operators:** A. Hydraulic Gate Operator TYM-HYD-VF2 with controller, supplied by TYMETAL, located at 2549 State Route 40, Greenwich, NY 12834 – (800)-328-4283. **2.02 Operation:** A. Operation uses a metal rail passing between solid metal wheels with polyurethane treads. The operator motor is hydraulic, roller-type, without belts, gears, pulleys, roller chains, or sprockets transferring power. The operator generates a minimum horizontal pull of 300 pounds without wheel slippage or arm distortion. It can handle gates up to 5,000 pounds. Speed is controlled by a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), which accelerates and decelerates the gate gradually. The maximum gate velocity is not less than 26 inches per second. **2.03 Factory Testing:** A. Each operator undergoes thorough factory assembly and testing to ensure smooth operation, sequence integrity, and load simulation. Mechanical and electrical connections are checked for tightness and alignment. Welds are inspected for completeness and continuity. **2.04 Box Frame Roller Gates:** A. TYMETAL manufactures the Box Frame Roller Gate(s). Substitutions must be approved by the design team before the bid date. **2.05 Gate Construction Details:** A. Gate Frame: - Primary members are "P" shaped aluminum extrusions, with specific weight and dimension requirements. - Trolley assemblies are bolted at intervals, each consisting of a galvanized steel carriage with two wheel assemblies, each rated for 2,000 lbs. B. Gate Track: - Two parallel W4 x 13 A36 steel beams are embedded in concrete, hot-dipped galvanized, with minimal variation in width. C. Diagonal Bracing: - Stainless steel cables ensure structural stability. D. Gate Filler: - Chain link or ornamental pickets extend the entire gate length, preventing unauthorized access. E. Finish: - Mill finished aluminum or polyester powder coating. F. Gate Lock: - Optional electro-mechanical lock with status indication. --- **Part 3 – Execution:** **3.01 Site Inspection:** A. Final grades and conditions are inspected before installation begins. **3.02 Installation:** A.
