The EVS-GTR puts forward technical requirements around the safety performance of the vehicle and the power battery, and also stipulates the test methods for the electric vehicle to meet the safety performance requirements, so as to ensure the electric vehicle in various use environments and the occurrence of frontal collisions, side collisions and other accidents. At this time, occupant safety can be maximally protected. The establishment of EVS-GTR has been initiated since 2012. China, the United States, the European Union, and Japan have jointly led the establishment of a special working group for the drafting of laws and regulations, cooperating with nearly 50 countries and regions in the world to carry out a large number of technical researches, experimental verifications, and communication and coordination work. . China organized domestic experts from the China Steam Weaving Research Center, FAW, Beiqi, BYD, Ningde, and CLP 18 to lead the work of three of the research groups.
