Understanding the Implications of COVID-19 and Our Response as Sigma Thermal
March 17, 2020
Dear Sigma Thermal Family and Valued Customers,
I hope this message finds you safe and healthy. As the world grapples with the unprecedented challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, we at Sigma Thermal are committed to navigating these uncertain times with care and transparency. First and foremost, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our customers for your unwavering trust and partnership over the years. It is your continued support that drives us forward, even in the face of adversity.
In moments like these, it's essential to pause and reflect on what truly matters. At Sigma Thermal, our top priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, customers, suppliers, and partners. The current situation has demanded that we adapt quickly and thoughtfully to ensure continuity while minimizing risks for everyone involved. Below, we outline the steps we're taking to address this crisis and how it may affect our operations moving forward.
Current Status and Actions Taken:
We are diligently following the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other public health authorities. This includes strict adherence to their recommendations regarding travel, sanitation, and social distancing protocols. While the CDC's guidelines are extensive and frequently updated, we are committed to staying informed and adjusting our policies accordingly. For detailed information on the CDC's recommendations, you can refer to their official website.
To protect our workforce, we've implemented a work-from-home policy for all employees who can perform their duties remotely. As the virus continues to spread, we are prepared to implement additional measures, such as limiting facility access and staggering shifts to reduce density. Fortunately, as of today, none of our employees have reported confirmed cases of COVID-19, and we remain optimistic about maintaining this status.
Regarding our manufacturing operations, Sigma Thermal and its subsidiaries are currently operating at full capacity. However, we have introduced enhanced cleaning and distancing practices that may temporarily affect productivity. If local health authorities impose stricter restrictions, we will reassess our operations accordingly. It's worth noting that while our Marietta-based manufacturing facilities are functioning normally, some of our external fabrication partners might face greater operational limitations due to regional lockdowns or supply chain disruptions.
Potential Impacts on Your Projects:
We understand that this situation creates uncertainty for many of our clients, particularly those with ongoing projects or pending orders. Here are some areas where you might experience changes:
- Supply Chain Delays: The global supply chain is experiencing significant disruptions, with many vendors unable to guarantee timely deliveries. Air freight, ocean shipping, rail, and trucking routes are all reporting delays, which will inevitably affect our ability to source materials. Depending on the stage of your project or order, these delays could range from minor inconveniences to major setbacks. Our project management team will reach out to discuss the specific implications for each client.
- Visits to Our Facilities: To minimize risk, we've restricted all nonessential visits to our premises. All internal and external meetings are now conducted virtually, and we advise against unnecessary travel by our staff. Exceptions are made for critical quality assurance activities, such as final inspections and factory acceptance tests (FAT), but these visits must adhere to stringent approval processes and health screenings.
- Field Service Support: Our service technicians are available for urgent field interventions, but only after reviewing the site's safety protocols. Additionally, we are introducing remote support options, including video conferencing and screen sharing, to provide assistance without requiring physical presence whenever possible.
A Message from Our CEO:
As the leader of Sigma Thermal, I want to assure you that we are doing everything within our power to mitigate the effects of this pandemic on our operations while safeguarding the welfare of our people. This is a challenging time for everyone, and we deeply appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate through it together.
