Mining Spiral Chute for Gold Sand Selection
The spiral chute is a gravity separation device used primarily in the mining industry to separate valuable minerals from waste materials. It is especially effective in processing gold sand and other fine mineral particles.
Application of Spiral Chute:
Spiral chutes are widely used in the recovery of non-ferrous metals, rare metals, and non-metallic minerals. Some common applications include the separation of iron ore, gold ore, ilmenite, chromite, pyrite, zircon, rutile, monazite, phosphorite, tungsten ore, tin, tantalum, and niobium ores.
Working Principle:
The spiral chute operates using the combined forces of water flow, gravity, inertial centrifugal force, and friction. Slurry is fed into the top of the spiral, where it is evenly distributed across multiple channels. As the slurry moves down the spiral, heavier particles settle toward the inner edge while lighter particles are carried outward by the water flow. This natural sorting process allows for efficient separation based on density, size, and shape.

As shown in the image above, this is a gravity separation production line that includes spiral chutes and shaking tables. After initial separation by the spiral chutes, some valuable minerals are extracted, and the remaining material is further processed using shaking tables for more refined separation.
The ideal particle size for feeding into the spiral chute is between 0.02 mm and 0.3 mm. The spiral chute can be coated with polyurethane, and the structure can be made from fiberglass depending on your specific requirements.
