On Monday, May 30, 2016, firefighters from Glenview responded to a serious fire at 526 Woodland Drive. The scene was immediately visible with heavy black smoke pouring from the house, prompting a quick response from multiple fire companies. As crews arrived, the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4, indicating a working fire. Units from Northfield, Wilmette, Morton Grove, and Skokie also arrived on the scene to assist.
The fire was initially contained to a bedroom and part of the attic, but the home suffered extensive smoke damage throughout its interior. Firefighters worked diligently to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Several fire engines, including an E-One e-MAX and Pierce Arrow XT models, were seen on the scene, highlighting the coordinated effort between departments.
