Multifunctional Tactile Sensing System Based on Friction Nanogenerator

    In recent years, the rapid development of smart devices makes people put forward higher requirements on smart robots and other equipment. Different from the working mode of traditional industrial robot, intelligent robot needs more independent working ability, which not only needs intelligent robot has better software system, but also its sensor should be more intelligent, and tactile sensing is one of them.

    Human touch is a highly complex and versatile sensing system. The development of artificial haptic systems with similar functions has received constant attention. Tactile sensor based on friction nano-generator is continuously researched in consideration of the similarity between the process of tactile action and frictional motion. These studies have focused on sensing in a single area of ​​touch (eg, touch, sliding touch, etc.), whereas human touch is a multifunctional integrated system. In addition, artificial tactile sensors still require a more intelligent design.

    Recently, a team led by Professor Wang Zhonglin and Cao Xia from the Beijing Institute of Nano-Energy and Systems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, developed a multi-functional integrated tactile sensing system by combining the advantages of single-electrode and double-electrode friction nanogenerators. The new multi-functional haptic system combines the advantages of single-electrode friction nano-generator in the fields of contact, positioning and the like, and also takes advantage of the advantages of the two-electrode mode in the field of mechanical motion sensing and realizes the advantages of contact, relative hardness, Location and contact with external force sensing. The tactile sensor in the 40-140N range, the external force has a good linear response. 2mm flat resolution for contacts. This work not only presents a method for constructing a multi-functional tactile sensing system, but also further demonstrates the application of triboelectric nano-sensors in the field of intelligent tactile sensing.
