This is a report from Larry Shapiro:
The Lake Zurich Fire Department received a call at 5:30 AM about a fire breaking out at a large house in Deer Park. When the first fire trucks arrived, they found flames shooting up from the flat roof of this residence, which had been unoccupied for several years. Since the house is located in an area without fire hydrants, the first engine tried to use its onboard water supply through the deck gun but quickly ran out. A second alarm was called in to request additional tankers to help bring water to the scene.
A tanker shuttle operation was set up to transport water from further away. Large diameter hoses were laid down from Cuba Road all the way to the house, covering nearly an entire block. Firefighters focused their efforts on preventing the blaze from spreading further, managing to contain the damage primarily to the roof and attic areas. It was a challenging situation due to the lack of nearby water sources, but the crew worked efficiently under difficult circumstances.
Here are some photos taken by Larry Shapiro showing the intensity of the fire and the extensive efforts made by the firefighters:

The fire posed significant challenges for the responders given the size of the structure and the limited access to water. Their quick action helped prevent the situation from escalating further.

Overall, it was a tough incident that required coordination and resourcefulness from the Lake Zurich Fire Department. Kudos to everyone involved for their hard work in such challenging conditions.
