Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (LRFPD) firefighters responded to a reported house fire this morning at 1975 Rose Terrace in Riverwoods. The incident began when the homeowner called emergency services, reporting flames coming from the garage. Upon arrival, the situation was immediately upgraded to a "Working Fire." The first engine unit reached the large two-story residence and found the attached garage fully engulfed. Firefighters quickly initiated a transitional attack using a 2½-inch hose line.
Several neighboring fire departments joined the response, including Long Grove FPD, Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD, Countryside FPD, and Wheeling. After about 30 minutes on scene, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm as additional fire pockets were discovered inside the home. This prompted units from Lake Zurich, Mundelein, Gurnee, and Libertyville to arrive and assist in containing the blaze.
The fire was eventually brought under control, and most of the mutual aid companies were able to return to their stations after the situation stabilized.
Here are some photos taken by Larry Shapiro, who arrived on site after the Box Alarm was issued. These images provide a glimpse into the intensity of the fire and the efforts made by the responding crews.
