This is from Larry Shapiro:
Winnetka has received a new unit for Ambulance 28. According to reports, this was the second-to-last ambulance built by Medtec. It's a Type I unit mounted on a 2012 IHC 4300 chassis and features Medtec shop order #26264-1.

This is now Ambulance 28R (noted by a small ‘R’ by the number 28). It is a 2007 Type I Medtec on a Freightliner M2106 chassis. Larry Shapiro photo
The previous unit assigned as Ambulance 28R was a 2000 Type I Road Rescue on a Freightliner FL70 chassis. That unit was sold to the Antioch Fire Department. It’s interesting to see how the department continues to update its fleet, keeping things modern and efficient. This new Medtec ambulance seems to be a fitting addition to the Winnetka Fire Department’s lineup, especially since it was one of the last units ever made by the company. It’s always great to catch these updates through local photographers like Larry Shapiro, who help keep the community informed about changes in their emergency services.
